Girls Camp 2010

For real and certain I love the Young Women of my ward more than I thought I could. HOw on earth could my heart stretch THAT big to love them all? I don't know how, I just know that it does!

Girls Camp this year was a real treat! It was Stake camp and we went up to Heber Valley. Wow! President Hinckley had this whole mountainside transformed into a camp that YW could use for their Girls Camps. It is simply amazing!! So beautiful and so clean!! That was the best part for me! We had our own little campsite and it had 3 cabins with 16 bunks each, and it was a perfect fit for our girls and 9 leaders. We also had our own bowery and cooking area and two bathrooms and two showers!! Just for us!!

I missed getting a picture of all of us before we came home and so this is just the leaders and girls that came home on the bus.

This is me when the men were hooking me into the harness. I was actually saying to my Bishop "I hope I don't say a bad word". I was SO scared. Anyone who knows me knows that I do NOT do heights!!

Another highlight....Mom and daughter (Michelle and Alli) arm wrestling. So funny! Michelle (my Beehive Counselor) totally kicked Alli's trash!

And last but not least....most favorite memory EVER of Girls Camp was seeing Bishop participate in "Minute to Win It" and do "Junk in the Trunk"! OMH!! It was absolutely priceless!~

Candy Factory Tour

Today the kids and I took the Sweets Candy Factory Tour. It is located in Salt Lake off of Bangerter Highway, so it wasn't that far of a drive and I thought it would be a fun thing to do. We got probably the world's most boring tour guide ever, but aside from that it was very interesting. I think all of us enjoyed the "chocolate room" the most!

Field trippin...

I tried to be a good FUN mom by taking my kids on some short field trips to interesting places that are near to where we live. Can I just say that the kids LOVED it! So for at least a couple of days I was #1 Mom, the coolest that ever lived!, Nobody beats me with their coolness!

Oh yeah, that was me.

So Day one, we went to the Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden. Pretty cool place. It was a hot day and we didn't last long, but we still saw everything there was to see. It has GIANT dinosaur statues and the kids (especially Jonathan) loved checking out how big everything was and then posing for a picture. Good times.







On Day two went to Promontory Point to the Golden Spike National Historic Site. Such fuN!! If you are a Utahn and have a 4th grader, this is a must see place! During the course of their school year, they learn about how the railroads met up at Promontory Point and the Golden Spike that joined the two railroads to create one line across the country. We got there early enough in the morning that we got to watch as they brought the two trains out. That really was the best part! The tour guide would explain what the train was going to do and what whistles it would make and the kids listened so intently. I loved that part of it!!


Then as we were leaving, I noticed the sign to ATK (the rocket place) and it said to go 2 miles further and we could see the exhibit. So off we went on an impromptu additional field trip....

ATK was neat. No tour guides....just all the rockets there in cement and signs telling what they were. Kinda boring actually. But the kids stood in front of the Peacekeeper missile for me to take a picture of and that was neat, so it worked out.
