up and around
The patient is up and around. He feels not so weak. He just needs to fart! Gosh darn it....that doesn't seem like such a hard thing to do and sometimes it happens when we don't want it to. But the minute....the very minute that you NEED to do it is when you can. That's what he is facing now.

Off track swimming lessons
Meanwhile....
I signed the kids up for swimming lessons and since they are off track until the first of the year, this should help to keep us busy. I am so proud of how well they did! Sidney is a little fish and loves to just be in the water. Jonathan bravely did the high dive and LOVED it! Jenny is quite a good swimmer and she enjoys playing in the water. It is sure fun to watch them.

Why I hate hospitals (part 1)
Mike had his surgery to remove the cancerous part of his colon. His cancer was stage 3a, meaning it had not progressed beyond the wall of the colon but was in a few lymph nodes and so they were removed also. It was so hard to wait and wait while the surgery was taking place. He said "now you know what it felt like for me all those times you decided to be sick". Yeah, ha ha. Cancer is not the same. I hate seeing him hurting and so weak. And I just hate hospitals. I hate hearing the Code Blue alarm go off and know that somewhere someone is possibly dying.

Here is what we did in November
The scouts went to the Police Station and got fingerprinted.
Sidney had 50's day at school.
Jenny had her first show choir performance. They sang at the Layton Nativity Lighting Ceremony.

Fun. Or not.
So this thing happened....
Until the doctor walked in and said the word that everyone dreads..."cancer"...
Yes, Mike has been diagnosed with colon cancer. It is treatable and it is a slow growing cancer so he has a positive outcome at this point. He will have surgery to remove it then end of November and then chemotherapy and radiation next Spring.
