So, yesterday I didn't get around to posting because I am rather sick with strep again(last time was at Thanksgiving). I hate being sick. Mike tries to step in and help, but I am such a booger that I have MY OWN WAY of doing things and though I love him to eternity and back, he just doesn't do it MY WAY. All you type-A personalities out there will understand that. Totally.
Anyway.
Here is what I am thankful for today (well, yesterday really)-----
*Penicillin (and the man who discovered it too) *water bottles *kids not getting in trouble at school (yay Rachel!) *a friend who brought us dinner *LOST every week on TV *warm blankets *Ibuprofen *that my Visiting Teaching was done early this month

What's inside?
I saw this fun thing to do over at Tori's blog and I just HAD to do it! So much fun! Anyway, here it goes: This is my purse. It really could double as a suitcase if I wanted it to. I had a fun cute little purse after I weaned myself from needing a diaper bag with Jonathan, but now we are back to the Diaper bag times again. So this is my freakin' huge purse! I bought it from the BYU-Idaho bookstore for $2.95 and you CAN'T BEAT THAT!
This is the contents of my purse! A lot of stuff, eh? I had my little wallet with all my credit cards in it, my fold-up pictures thingie, a disposable camera from Disneyland that I still haven't dropped off to be developed, a diaper and the wipes container, my temple recommend, one cough drop, 2 peppermints, my coin purse (which has inside of it: nail glue, lip gloss, 3 more cough drops, 4 bandaids, and a sewing kit), 3 pens, 1 metallic blue sharpie, 2 mechanical pencils, a Chili's coupon, 2 receipts, a ziploc baggie with a comb and plastic ponies in it for hair emergencies when we are out and about, 20 cents, and finally the Disney Pixar Short Films DVD that Shannon gave me yesterday that I put in my purse and forgot about until just now. oops

It's a spectacle!
At our house, dealing with "spectacles" is definately a "spectacle". ![]()
I have completely lost count as to the number of glasses that my "sweet darlings" Meghan and Rachel have had and/or broken. Frankly it's too many to count. But since they need them to see and therefore function in society...We just keep getting them pair after pair after pair after pair.....
Anyway, Meghan's broke (she helped them along) right before her birthday, which is coincidentally, RIGHT before CHRISTMAS. So, for Christmas Eve, we went to Walmart and picked up her new ones. She likes them. They are Hannah Montana frames! That sentence had an exclamation mark simply because you need to imagine that a 9 year old is telling you that bit of information. I hear it a couple hundred times a day. (Oh yeah, Meghan is the blond on the left)
And Rachel's broke a week after Meghan's broke. These two have a tendency to do this sort of copycat thing. ANYWAY, we couldn't afford to buy TWO new pairs right at the holidays, so we taped Rachel's up (she broke them on the earpieces), and told her to hang tight for a month or so. Well, last week she and I went to Walmart and had her eyes examined. Her prescription has changed quite a lot. (That's probably why she couldn't see the board at school) And she also got her new glasses. They are Hannah Montana frames TOO! LIke, Oh my heck!
(Rachel is the blond on the right)
They are both thrilled and we are poor and we'll see how long these glasses last.

In our lives we all see miracles. Some are huge manifestations of the Lord's power and some are just everyday things. Still, they are all miracles.
Because I can (it's my blog), and because I want to...I am sharing with you all the amazing story of my cousin Eric's son who has gone through a very rough and yet, miraculous year. He was involved in an ATV accident last June and his story is pretty great.
The Times-News, the newspaper for Twin Falls, Idaho, just ran this story on him (Orrin) yesterday. There are lots of pictures for you to see this fine young man and what he has been through in the last little while.

Maybe it's Mardi Gras
I thought I would share this picture of Jonathan with you all. It's one of my favorites. He was about 18 months old and snuck into my room to get to the play necklaces and stuff. He had a GRAND old time getting all decked out! I call it his Mardi Gras picture. Funnily (is that even a word?) enough, it was around the time of Mardi Gras 2005 that he did this. Why am I posting this now, three years later? Because I visited Sharp Spiels and she had posted some really fun pictures of her family enjoying all the Mardi Gras festivities from this year. It looked like so much fun!
Anyway, there you go. This is my life from day to day (Not just Mardi Gras time) and it keeps getting better every year.

Husband 1.0
I got this VERY FUNNY email today that I HAVE to share! I laughed so hard that I almost rivaled Sidney in the wet pants department! Hope you like it too!
INSTALLING HUSBAND
Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance --
Particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0, and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?
Signed, Desperate
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Desperate:
First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, While Husband 1.0 is an Operating System.
Please enter the command: "http: I Thought You Loved Me.HTML" and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. -- But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the beta version of Snoring Loudly.
Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources). Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Food 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.
Good Luck, Tech Support

Food, glorious food
I was at a loss as what to write for this week's Thursday Thirteen list. I asked my kids for help and here is what they thought of. BEHOLD... the list of thirteen things (okay, really they are foods) that we like to buy from Costco.
1. Chicken Nuggets
2. Vitamins - these are Jonathan's favorite. Not because he likes vitamins so much, but because they are DINOSAUR shaped.
3. Capri-sun
4. Cheese sticks
5. Costco muffins -especially the chocolate ones. Mmmmm. Yummm. I have given them up though. Now I can only crave them from afar.
6. Bagels- except not anymore, what with me counting carbs and all these days. Stupid Diabetes!
7. Already cooked bacon- such a time saver! (And who doesn't like Bacon?)
8. Jamaica-me Sweet Hot and Spicy sauce - really good in tonights meatloaf
9. Rotisserie chicken
10. Costco cakes - I think I will buy one for Rachel's baptism day party and that will probably keep me good for a few years. Well, really it WON'T, but if I keep saying it maybe it will come true. Wishful thinking, right?
11. Fruit leather and fruit snacks - Jonathan would DIE if he didn't have one or the both of these to snack on every day.
12. Vegetable lasagna- I always try to have these in the freezer so that when I am stressed out when Mike is travelling, I can whip it out and it's almost like a homemade dinner. And it specifically has to be when he is travelling, since he doesn't like it.
13. Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches! Enough said.

Loved it...
I read the most fascinating book today. I heard it was a "good read" and so I put it on hold at the library a few months back. It finally came my turn to check it out and I did about a month ago. And it sat on my bedside table as I read other books first. I wish I would've read it the same day I got it.
It is a sweet story told through the letters that a husband wrote to his wife every Wednesday from the day they were married. Through all the good times and the bad. I cried and simply enjoyed getting wrapped up in this wonderful book.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great book to curl up with. And for all those out there who already read this book...what did you think? Did you like it? Let me know!

Hello Mr. Darcy, my name is.....
Have you been watching all the Jane Austen books movies on PBS? I have and have thoroughly enjoyed most of them. I didn't like Mansfield Park. I am sure that the book is good. The movie just wasn't.
I found this quiz today while searching for a fun one to do and I thought to myself,"Why, now that fits perfectly with what I am interested in right now"! So lickety-split I put it on my blog.
Have fun!!

No more naps!
Yesterday I finally got around to calling the owner/director of the Preschool that all my other kids went to about getting Jonathan in. We talked about how nervous he was and he will be starting in August when the other kids start the next year of school. I told him about this after I got off the phone and in true Jonathan form, he got all whiney and said things like, "No" and " I don't want to go to that school. I want to go to Jenny's school". So I very nicely explained that he can not go to Kindergarten until after he goes to Preschool which he will start after his birthday when he is 5 and it will be so fun, you won't even have to take a nap anymore.
These are the words that he heard:
five , Birthday and No nap
When Mike walked in the door after work, Jonathan immediately rushed over to him and said, " Dad, last night I had a birthday and now I am five and I don't have to take naps!"
Seriously, he is the reason I have gray hairs!
