Flashback Friday- Family portraits

You gotta love the 70's. I'm guessing that one requirement of living during the 70's was the ability to not match at all. Cuz take a look people! None of us match. Our own clothes or even to each other!

Another point I want to make: 4 people have brown hair in this picture, one has black, one is blond, and one is reddish light brown. Take a picture of us today and for some Odd reason, only a couple of us Still have our original hair color. Hmmmmm. I'm not faulting, I'm just saying....

I love family pictures. It's hard to believe that this was our family 30 years ago.

Here we are last year at Thanksgiving. From that picture 30 years ago, one more child was added to the family, 6 spouses, and 17 grandkids. Awesome isn't it! (And my dad and mom are still as handsome and pretty as ever!)

Last week I did two ponies on top when I fixed Sidney's hair in the morning. So fun and so cute. She kept grabbing them all day long trying to figure out what they were.
She is the biggest copycat that I have ever seen. Seriously, she is so smart! She always takes her bath at the same time as Jonathan and just by watching him do the shampoo on his hair, she has learned how to do her own. I noticed her doing it a couple of weeks ago, but Mike just noticed it this week and so I grabbed the camera and got a couple of shots of her doing her shampoo. She can really work up a lather!
Jenny's big idea was to keep track of the scores from Dancing with the Stars on her little chalkboard that she bought at the dollar store. She is such a nerd! No actually, she reminds me of myself. Back in the old days, during the Miss America and other pageants when they gave the scores, if you didn't keep track of the highest scores you would lose track of who was in the lead. We would all sit around and watch the pageants and I remember sitting with paper and a pencil and writing down the scores so that my dad would know who was ahead for when he made his prediction that Miss California, Texas, or Maryland would win.
Anyway, now I have Jenny to do the same thing for me! She kept trying to write down the phone number for me but it went too fast across the TV sreen. I told her "that's okay, I'll go online and vote". She said, "what line will you go on Mom? I don't see a line". Needless to say, I had to explain what "online" meant. :]

Flashback Friday and the BRA

So, I was talking to my little sister Andi last night and we were talking blogging stuff. What? You all don't talk about that kind of stuff with your sisters? :] Anyway, I was telling her that I was trying to figure out which picture to use for today's Flashback because I had to make sure that I could make fun of it in some way.

Not to disappoint anyone.....
Oh yeah. Lovin' the homemade dresses. Mine was super LONG for some reason. And remember the days when you wore socks that went alllllll the way up to your knees even in the hot summer?? Mm hmmm. But the very best is my big sis Gina. Please, I could not pass this up. She would probably be mortified if she knew I even put this on my blog. Shhh! Don't tell. But did you see her BRA? Of course. How could you miss it. It's like RIGHT THERE! Apparently that was before the fashion police were formed to teach you that you don't wear bright white bras underneath white shirts. Like, DUH!

Plus notice in the background the wall hanging made from carpet pieces formed into shapes of flowers. That absolutely Screams of R.S. Homemaking activity circa 1970's. What you can't see is the macrame plant holder hanging in the corner. Bummer.

All in all, this pic did not disappoint.....me, at least.

My kids and my Sweetheart! Oh how I love them. I mean it IS Valentine's Day after all! No really, they are the light of my life and my world truly does revolve around them. Here are a few of my favorite pictures to show how fun and awesome they are.

Thanksgiving

What an awesome Thanksgiving we had! It was spent in Buhl, Idaho with my family. We all got together on Thursday and took a family picture and then ate dinner and hung out. It was great to just be together again.

BYU WoN!!! It's a good thing too or Mike would have been ornery and not fun to be around. We listened to the game in the car on the way home from Idaho. He was all tense and stuff and I prayed we wouldn't get in a wreck. After all, what would I tell the police when they came to check it all out? "Um I'm sorry Officer, but the BYU game was on and they were losing and then they got a touchdown and he just couldn't control his excitement...he was all over the road." Somehow, I don't think that is a viable explanation.

Glad to be back home after 4 days though. Meghan said,"I just like our house. It is ours and I like it." Well said.
