Wordless Wednesday...kind of...

At the Henline Family Reunion this past Saturday, Sidney helped herself to climbing up somebody's motorcycle. Brave little girl. Nothing fazes her AT ALL. Seriously, SHE is the one I am worried about when she is older.

Flashback Friday- the graduate....of 1993

What the crap, right? Yah really. Someone should've informed me about using makeup that makes one look like a ghost. What was I thinking??? This is in honor of it being graduation time around these parts and 4 of my cute Laurels are graduating. Wow! So weird to see them all grown up, but I imagine it was much the same for my leaders too. :]

*this is me and Andi, by the way. And it is circa 1993, so really we can't help most of it. It was the 90's and I will blame it on that til the day I die.

The BIG 2!

My dear sweet punkin' Sidney is 2 today! I do not have any idea where those two years have gone. They must certainly have flashed by! She is clearly the best Mother's Day present I could ever have asked for.
And getting bigger and bigger by the minute. She's so independent, strong-willed, and smart. I am impressed by everything she does and of course I think she is a genius! I wish she would leave the permanent markers alone, but other than that...I love everything about this kiddo!
Happy Birthday Sissy!!

....clearly she gets them from me.
Happy Flashback Friday!

Who is this cute baby? Why...it's me of course! Why am I showing this picture? Because it is my birthday and 34 years ago today I was born! Hooray me!

It was a great day getting to listen to General Conference. I so enjoy listening to the Prophet and other church leaders. I always feel so uplifted as I listen to their counsel.

Thank you to everyone that sent me wonderful birthday wishes. You are all so sweet to me!

Disney on Ice

was indeed a "Magical Journey". About two months ago a postcard came in the mail telling about the latest installment of Disney on Ice that would be coming to Salt Lake. It gave a code on it and said to use that when ordering tickets and they would only be $10 instead of $30-$50. I showed it to Mike and he jumped right on it and ordered them for us. We kept it a secret from the kids, which was VERY hard to do, and Thursday night we rode Frontrunner down to Salt Lake to eat and "do something fun". That's what we told the kids. As we walked into Energy Solutions Arena it was so funny to see them looking around trying to figure out what we were doing there. Jenny asked me if we were going to see the Jazz play, and Meghan asked me if we were there to see a High School Musical show or something. I laughed and then they saw all the Flounder hats and figured out that is was Disney on Ice. Jenny had this big smile on her face the ENTIRE time! *Enjoying their $10 popcorn!!

The hosts of KSL's Studio 5 opened the show and welcomed everyone. That was kind of cool.

This part was at the end of the show right before the Peter Pan segment.

Lilo and Stitch. I have to admit that this was my favorite segment of the whole show.

The Little Mermaid part. Rachel LOVED this part and was all gaga at the end when Prince Eric kisses Ariel!

This was at the very beginning. Apparently I can not put pictures on Blogger in the correct order. Anyway, it was the Disney characters introducing the theme....that they were going to go on a "Magical Journey".
It was a fun night even though we got home at 10:30. Sidney stayed home with a babysitter and that was nice because we didn't have to fight her when she got sleepy. It was bad enough that we had to fight Meghan the grouch!

Flashback Friday

Two of my sisters and I did lots of things together growing up. We were each two years apart, so being close in age helped. I was looking through the photo albums I swiped from my parent's house and I found these two pictures. I distinctly remember these experiences. They are some of my favorites.
This first picture is from April 1981. We participated in a ward talent show. I remember it was in the 1st ward building and I remember being up on the stage and everything. Anyway, we sang the song "How much is that doggie in the window". That would explain our puppy dog props. I don't remember if we won or even got a ribbon. Maybe Marni or Amy will remember that.... This second picture is from May 1981. (apparently there was lots going on in 1981) There was a Stake play. I remember going to the practices, and watching my mom use RIT dye to color our costumes. She sewed them too. We were part of the vegetable parade in the play. Amy and I were beets, and Marni was either a cucumber or a zuchini. Marni, what were you? If you remember, let me know.

For as long as I can remember, I have not been shy. Being in front of people rarely weirds me out. Bearing my testimony is a different thing. I cry and get all emotional and so I avoid doing that, but just being up in front talking or whatever doesn't bug me at all. I guess it's because I was exposed to it at a young age. Or maybe it's just because I am that way. Who knows!

Flashback Friday

I just have to thank my friend Karla for posting this on Facebook yesterday and of course, I stole it!! Anyway, this is me (right front in the shorts) and my friends Karla, Sara, and Bridgette when we went to Albuquerque for FHA conference our senior year. We all roomed together and had so much fun! I love the memories I have from the fun opportunities I had as a teenager.

The funny thing is that I thought I was SO FAT in High School, and looking at this picture I thought "WHAT the HECK!". I looked so good then, and yet I beat myself up because I wasn't a size 2. Stupid.

Happenings....

Sidney got moved into her BIG GIRL bed. OH yeah! I got tired of her climbing in and out, in and out the entire time that the kids were in the bedroom playing. I figured if she could climb in and out, then we were just waiting for a broken arm or leg so we might as well put her into a toddler bed. I am happy to report that she does really well.

The Wii that Mike won for doing a contest a few months ago finally came in the mail on Martin Luther King Day. Hooray for FedEx working that day!! Jonathan loves the bowling. Not as much as he loves the boxing, but we are trying to put a handle on the fighting so you know....

Jenny is a pretty good bowler too. It's funny, but both she and Jonathan have NO correct form and they don't even try to do it correctly and they get over 100 every time. Yet Rachel who walks perfectly straight and tries SOOOOO hard and she can't get a good score to save her life! It's so funny!!

Here is Mike testing out the golfing. BTW, I ToTaLLy BEAT him on golf and it was my first time golfing EVER!! :]
This is Sidney's opinion of the Wii. She is so expressive.
*I have no pics of Rachel or Meghan (yet) because they were at piano when I was taking these pics and they missed out.

Happy 10th to Meghan!

Happy 10th Birthday Meghan!!

I can't believe she is 10! Wow! Her childhood is going by so fast. I wonder if she feels the same way? The highlight of her birthday was the ice cream cake from Cold Stone (no picture- sorry! It was all blurry), and getting the Taylor Swift CD.
She is such a young lady, I almost feel silly being a mom to someone who likes the same stuff that I like. (Does that make me weird?)
Here are the top 10 things that are great about Meghan:
1. She likes the color purple and so do I.
2. She is very crafty. Her latest obsession is weaving. She has made 6 scarves for the homeless and is almost done with another.
3. She likes all the same music that I do.
4. She is smart like her dad.
5. She has beautiful handwriting (when she takes her time...)
6. She makes yummy Mac n Cheese.
7. She is a great helper around the house and usually does her chores without grumbling.
8. She is a girlie girl through and through!
9. She likes CHoColAte!!
10. She is very pretty and fixes her own hair EVERYDAY!
LOVE YOU MEGGY!!

Flashback Friday and the big ball

I love this picture. I look like I am having so much fun playing with my ball. Every time Mike sees this picture he says, " ummm, I don't know, but I don't think your ball is big enough."
Oh yeah, HA HA. Really though, I wasn't THAT small of a baby, so the ball must be super huge to be as big as me, right.
Hey come to think of it...I am pretty teensy in this picture, maybe THIS is the one that I will put up on my fridge as my weight loss goal pic.

Flashback Friday- little sisters

I have the best little sister in the world. Seriously. She rocks. She is a great listener. She's super pretty, and extremely funny.

I wasn't always happy to have a little sister though. Right, Andi? Oh yeah. We had our moments. But, thankfully I grew up and am so grateful I did, so that I could recognize how important she is in my life.

*This picture is from July 1982. She would have been about 7 months old, and I was 7 years old. You can't really tell from this picture, but I am wearing one of the old "Dive In Lagoon-a-Beach" t-shirts". Cool, huh?

Guess what I got to clean up today?

I didn't think you be able to guess, so I included this picture. Yes, I am a mean mom. I make my kids suffer so I can take pictures of their misery so I can blog about it. So sue me.

I let Jonathan and his buddy Porter play outside this morning and I kept telling them to stay away from the garden area. With all the rain we got it has become a mud bog. They didn't listen and "miss follower pants" followed and then got stuck and then tipped over face first. Fun times!

Flashback Friday

I got a tad bit nostalgic today and looked at old Halloween pictures of the kids. Halloween is by far the favorite holiday around our house. Something about dressing up and pretending to be something you are not just excites them and makes it fun. Upon looking at the pictures though, I realized that I am missing one year (2005)- that would be when our hard drive crashed and I lost all the pictures that I didn't have on a backup disc- and I took individual pictures in 2006 instead of a group shot. So here is what I do have. Enjoy! It sure was fun to see how they have grown!
