quote of the day
"Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone."- C.B. Stern
I saw this quote on the marquee of a bank yesterday as I was running errands with the kids. It really got me to thinking about my state of gratitude. Do I thank people, or do I just assume that they know I am grateful? I realized that I am pretty good about thanking, but just like everything...I CAN IMPROVE. And then I thought that it isn't just saying "thank you", it is the attitude behind it. And we all know that attitude adjustments are a daily course of action....at least for me they are. :))
SOOOOOO...I am really grateful for being able to see this quote that made me do a self-check and think. I am definately keeping my eyes open for other quotes now too.

Barcoli and prayers
Anyway, Jonathan ordered chicken fingers with "vegables". And the vegables came and it was carrots, zuchini, and "barcoli".
"I love barcoli", he says.
And I love that the little things he says or does make me laugh.
Last night at his prayer, he proceeded to pray for everything. Now we encourage this...we do...but I was laughing so hard that I had to tell him that was good and to stop. His prayer went something like this:
"Heavenly Father, thank you for today, and my mom and dad. Thank you for my sisters and Sidney and her purple bottle. Thank you for my bed and my red Elmo blanket, and the other Elmo blanket that mom is making me but isn't done yet. Thank you for the picture on the wall that I like. Thank you for Grandmas and Grandpas and Aunts, Uncles and cousins and that Uncle Ty's foot is better and not falling off. Thank you for my Lightning Daking toothbrush that the dentist gave me that I'm gonna use tomorrow. Thank you for helf and strenkt and for the tomatoes in the garden that we wash before we eat. Thank you for my blue ball thing from the dentist that broke and mom put it in the garbage. Thank you for my dinosaurs and hot wheels that fly fast in the air and my blocks and my shoes and my shirts and my Thomas jammies and my pillow and my light and daddy's Justice League movie. No mom, I am not done! Okay, in the name........"
Is it any wonder I laugh more than I should?

Kangaroos are not domesticated

The above pics are from my friend and fellow "mom-in-crime" Shannon and I. On Tuesday we took the kids to Fat Cats (a local arcade place) to go bowling. It was the first time my kids had ever been and I must say completely HI-larious to watch them try it out!! Not saying that I am any pro bowler or anything, but HAHA so funny to see. Wish you all could've been there.

This is the kids at the Davis County Fair. I thought it would be fun to take them to the fair. I have such good memories of going to the fair every fall and showing my horse, and my pig or my 4-H sewing projects. I think that Jonathan was the most enthralled by the animals. Which is funny because my kids have seen animals before.....just not "at the Fair".
Last night at dinner, we sat down and I asked Jenny what she learned at Kindergarten that day. This is the conversation that followed...
Dad: What letter did you learn about today?
Jenny: K
Dad: What about the letter K?
Jenny: Well, Mrs. Henderson told us that K is for Kangaroo. Kangaroos are animals that jump and bounce a lot and live in Australia. They are not domesticated (this is when I started to hysterically laugh), only dogs and cats are domesticated. That means they can be pets. And bunnies too.
Dad: OH...well sounds like you learned a lot then.
After that, conversation just seemed pointless. Everything that could have been said just had been.

Just because...I love the television show called "Last Comic Standing". Quite funny!! Anyway, last week one of the finalists little bit was so funny that my friend Shannon and I have been laughing about it all week and repeating as much as we dare. New Piano....WHAT?
Seriously...it is the most crappy, poopy, stinky piano ever. Confused, yet? Yes, we had to fix our sewer. The pipe get backing up- not fun- hence, the smelly adjectives I already used! I told Mike when we found out how much it was going to cost.."well, there goes our piano". So now we just look at the mess that our yard USED to be and think of the piano that we do not have. But, hey, at least we don't have stink coming back into the house.
birthday was last night. YIKES! They grow up too fast. Her BIG present was a BArbie scooter. She was SOOOOOOOO excited. All day long she would look at her presents all wrapped up on the table and ask me if the biggest one was her scooter. Of course, I would play stupid and tell her that I had no idea what she was talking about. Then Jonathan would chime in that yes it was her scooter. Really, doesn't quite get the concept of surprise, does he????

two movies in a week
ha...so life being busy and all, I am finally getting to sit for a moment and write about being able to see TWO movies in a week's time!! That has to be a record for me since being single..and even then...
Went two weeks ago on a Monday (skipped Family night) with hubby and saw the newest Harry Potter movie. Loved it!! So good. Course it helps that I am an enormous HP fan!!! Then in that same week on Friday, went with some girlfriends (Girls Night Out) to see Hairspray. Holy Cow Fun Movie!! I laughed and sang along and beebopped the whole way home. Way fun to see the FAT girl get the guy and happiness. I can relate....
Then the next day came my Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book by UPS and I read it ALLLLL DAY!! I finished it about 2 am Sunday morning. Yes, I wanted to sleep during church because I was toast, but strangley enough still had that "good book adrenaline rush" thing going on...
I am sad that the HP series is at its end, but really feel that JK Rowling is a phenomenal writer and did an awesome ending to the series.
Wish something exciting had happened this week. Hope to get rid of some junk at my friends yard sale tomorrow. Make a few bucks and go spend it on more junk that I will want to get rid of in afew more years time.. Endless cycle...
Kids started school last week. I have a 3rd grader, 2nd grader, and a Kinde
rgartener. They are growing sooooo fast. I love for them to be in school, not because I am cold-hearted and want to be rid of my kids each day (believe me, I know some moms who are like that), but because my kids really DIG learning. And I really DIG that!!!
