picture updates and milestones

Last week I did two ponies on top when I fixed Sidney's hair in the morning. So fun and so cute. She kept grabbing them all day long trying to figure out what they were.
She is the biggest copycat that I have ever seen. Seriously, she is so smart! She always takes her bath at the same time as Jonathan and just by watching him do the shampoo on his hair, she has learned how to do her own. I noticed her doing it a couple of weeks ago, but Mike just noticed it this week and so I grabbed the camera and got a couple of shots of her doing her shampoo. She can really work up a lather!
Jenny's big idea was to keep track of the scores from Dancing with the Stars on her little chalkboard that she bought at the dollar store. She is such a nerd! No actually, she reminds me of myself. Back in the old days, during the Miss America and other pageants when they gave the scores, if you didn't keep track of the highest scores you would lose track of who was in the lead. We would all sit around and watch the pageants and I remember sitting with paper and a pencil and writing down the scores so that my dad would know who was ahead for when he made his prediction that Miss California, Texas, or Maryland would win.
Anyway, now I have Jenny to do the same thing for me! She kept trying to write down the phone number for me but it went too fast across the TV sreen. I told her "that's okay, I'll go online and vote". She said, "what line will you go on Mom? I don't see a line". Needless to say, I had to explain what "online" meant. :]

Grapes...and more

This weekend Mike picked some of our grapes and got the older girls involved in taking them off the stems in preparation for making juice. If Mike and I do that part, it always takes so much longer because we have to chase kids during, so we decided to offer more allowance as an incentive (okay, it was a bribe) to do that part for us. Meghan was pretty good about helping, but she would rather have been pretending she was married to Zac Efron than help and so she kept stopping and wandering away. Rachel, on the other hand, was gung ho and all about getting it done. She is kind of OCD though and this was the perfect job for her.
Anyway, we got 4 batches of grape juice done for our food storage (24 quarts) and will be sharing the rest of our grapes with a neighbor so that she can make juice for her family to use. What was funny was that during the time we did grapes, I was trying to catch up on the laundry and had washed Jenny's bedspread and hung it out on the swingset to finish drying. (I don't have a clothesline-wish I did!)

Well, Jonathan thought of a fun thing to do and him and Sidney took turns running under the quilt! It was pretty funny to watch.

* Did you notice that all the kids are wearing their BYU shirts? 'Cuz HECK YA- it's BYU time!!

Just a couple highlights from this weekend...

She's a daredevil. Really. She climbs up on my hope chest- don't ask me how she does that- and then does her version of "River Dance" as fast as she can. I'm just waiting for her to fall off. Well, why don't you just NOT let her climb up on it you ask? Ummm, she kinda has a mind of her own. It's not likely that I could actually stop her.
Jenny was creating with Legos again on Saturday. I love to see the things my kids can create. They have such vivid imaginations.

We festivated! (yes, I know I made up that word)

Jenny wanted a cake that looked like cookies. Well, I aim to please and so she got her cookies! What do ya think? I thought they turned out great!
We went to Applebee's for her birthday dinner. We copied NancyFace (who always makes funny faces and then posts the pics on her blog) and the kids did their silliest faces for me, much to the delight of all the patrons around our table I am sure!
Jenny liked her presents, but really...it's all about the CASH!

*And did you see the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics? Was that not amazing? I was awestruck! It was so awesome!! Today so far I have watched women's volleyball, men's beach volleyball, and women's fencing. I LOVE the OLYMPICS!

He kissed and told about it

How can you resist this face? Ha Ha. No really, he can give this one look that will just make you melt. AND...he is only 4!

Today on the way home from church he told Mike, "Dad, I told Halle today that I love her. And she said I love you too."
Mike said, "oh really..."
Then the bombshell,"And then I kissed her."
Later when I was questioning why he was kissing ANY OTHER GIRL besides MOMMY...he said to me, "We kissed, so now we can get married."
AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH! I am so Not prepared for this! This is just the sort of thing that I expected from Meghan, not from Jonathan! The problem is that Halle is so stinking cute, no little boy in his right mind could resist her. (I hope she at least told her mom that Jonathan kissed her and that it isn't being found out right now by them reading my blog. I don't even know if they read my blog....)
So yeah, we have a playboy around our house. The excitement never stops.
