Last night was the Halloween Carnival at our church. The Young Men and Young Women put it on every year and it is tons of fun! The kids all get to put their costumes on and play all sorts of arcade/carnival style games to win candy prizes. One of the favorite stops to make is the face painting table. EVERYONE always wants some doodad painted on their face. Last night was no exception.
Now before I go on with the rest of the story, you should know that we have the best hometeachers in the world. They are so wonderful to us and are just so fun because they fit right in with our circus. That said, they are HUGE University of Utah fans and we are BYU fans. Kind of opposites, huh? Anyway, Bro. Thompson is always telling me that one day he is going to give my kids red U of U shirts, and he usually wears his U of U shirt when he comes to home teach us. He is funny that way!
So anyway, last night when our kids were just wandering the church doing the different activities and such, Bro. Thompson grabs Jonathan and says, "Hey, let's go get your face painted."
This is the result. (Bro. Thompson was SOOO Proud of himself when he brought Jonathan over to show his face to Mike and I. I told him he was FIRED! :] ) 
My son's face was an abomination! It got even funnier though because ALL these people kept coming over to Mike and I and asking us if we had seen his face and what did we think. It cracked me up! Anyway, the girls, in an effort to placate Daddy (who wasn't mad, by the way), had BYU painted alllllllllll over their faces. Too funny!
I.am.an.idiot. There. I freely admitted it. Now you can all go about your business again.
"THE BIG GAME" is NOT today as I previously thought. Where did I even get that thought? Who knows. Point is I thought it was today. HAHA. NO. It's in like 6 weeks. What a dorkus I am. Can I help it that I am really trying to be a bigger fan and better co-dependent enabler for my husband and his BYU fan-ness that I got so excited that THERE would be a game that then I confused it in my brain (which FYI...doesn't take much because leading experts say that we only use 10% of our brains anyway) and wanted it to be tomorrow.
Guess what? No matter how HARD you will a game to be, it just will not BE.
*Thanks Grant for letting me know. You are a die hard UTAH fan and I should have known that you would at least know when the game was. LOL.
What an awesome Thanksgiving we had! It was spent in Buhl, Idaho with my family. We all got together on Thursday and took a family picture and then ate dinner and hung out. It was great to just be together again.
BYU WoN!!! It's a good thing too or Mike would have been ornery and not fun to be around. We listened to the game in the car on the way home from Idaho. He was all tense and stuff and I prayed we wouldn't get in a wreck. After all, what would I tell the police when they came to check it all out? "Um I'm sorry Officer, but the BYU game was on and they were losing and then they got a touchdown and he just couldn't control his excitement...he was all over the road." Somehow, I don't think that is a viable explanation.
Glad to be back home after 4 days though. Meghan said,"I just like our house. It is ours and I like it." Well said.
I am trying to get smarter. You see, I just dicovered that I am not only NOT smarter than a 5th grader, but also not necessarily smarter than my very own 3rd grader. Have you done 3rd grade math lately? Well, I have (okay, I was really just helping) and it is hard. Or maybe the number of kids in this house multiplied by my lack of patience equals major loss of brain cells. Not to mention the increase in gray hairs. I'm just sayin'.
One thing I am still smarter at is spelling. Go me! 'Course the words are not too difficult. That helps. Last. L-A-S-T. Slope. S-L-O-P-E. Ledge. Who-cares-I-will-just-jump-off-it.
I have noticed that homework takes A LOT OF TIME. When did teachers start giving so much? I don't ever remember having homework when I was in Elementary school. Or maybe I just didn't do it. That is a possibility. I'll have to ask my mom. Maybe she has memories of the hours of homework time after school that I am strangely blocking out.
On to other topics.....(and it really has nothing to do with the rest of this post whatsoever)...BYU won today. My husband is happy. It's good that they won, 'cuz then I won't have to hear about all their mistakes every moment of every day until the next game. He's a fanatic he is.
I hope to have some swanky changes to my blog soon. I got some books from the library on "making your blog sparkle", and HTML and all that. If I have enough brain cells left after we tackle multiplication tonight, I'm gonna try to decipher all the stuff it says. If nothing changes you'll know I was too stupid to figure it out.
Or I just decided to have chocolate instead.
