On May 13th I underwent a Distal Pancreatectomy and Splenectomy to remove a possibly cancerous cyst from the tail end of my pancreas and to remove my spleen. The surgery went great. There were only minor complications...the cyst had attached itself to other parts of me, like my small intestine, large intestine, and my kidney in addition to the spleen. I also lost some blood, so 2 days following my surgery when my blood levels just wouldn't get better, I received two units of blood via transfusion. I was in the hospital for 6 days and then I was ready to come home. I officially HATE hospitals and hope I never have to spend time there again.
The incision to cut my abdomen open to perform the surgery was 7 inches long. I had 29 staples to close it up. I am healing and feeling better every day and I wanted to post some pictures so that IF you are interested you can see how awesome my scar is gonna be!!
