The cape

A couple of years ago I bought this fun double-sided "hero" cape for Jonathan from a craft show. He has loved it and wears it (still) all the time. When he was three (and 4) he would seriously wear it EVERYDAY. Many times I had to give up the fight and just take him to Walmart with the cape on. He loves it that much.

As you can see, it has a Batman side and a Superman side. Perfect for little boys. I have purchased a few more of these capes over the years and given them as gifts to other little boys and they have loved them also.

Sidney also likes to wear Jonathan's cape. She runs with it on and it flies out behind her. So, I let her wear it if she wants to. Sometimes this causes fights. But, a couple of months ago, I was at a craft show again and they had this same cape, but in girlie colors. It was so cute and I almost bought it....but then I thought, "hey- I already have ONE. I can make a pattern from it and do this myself."

So I did!

It turned out great and I was so proud of myself! She is getting this for Christmas and I just know she is gonna love it!

The last two days...

WooHoo! I got it to upload my pics!

Okay, so I have spent the last two days doing mostly fun stuff which is a minor miracle because all my kids are off track and seem to think that Mommy needs to entertain them. NOT! First, I have been trying to teach Jenny some fashion sense. She is not a willing student. Obviously. This is her idea of fashion. Clearly she has much to learn.
Second, I have been making Korker hair bows. My friend Hollie (Holliesspot.blogspot.com) put the instructions on how to do them on her blog a while ago and I FINALLY got around to it. These bows are for the girls to wear in the hair on Saturday when we get our pictures taken. Well, the brown and pink ones anyway. The others were simply for fun to match other outfits they have.

And this is our gorgeous model Sidney wearing the smaller bows that I made especially for her. Fun, huh?

My obsession and my therapy

"Crafting" is therapy for me. Yesterday during naptime I did Jonathan's box. He was a little mad that it wasn't more "froofy". I said, "well, you are a boy so get over it!" Front of the box. His favorite color is orange and he likes Dinosaurs.

This is Jenny's. I did it this morning during Sidney's morning nap. Seriously, these boxes take hardly any time at all. Jenny doesn't have a real favorite color-she likes them all. I thought this paper was adorable and when I found ribbon and stickers that totally matched it I was like "SCORE"! Hers is my favorite of the ones I have done so far. This is Meghan's. Her favorite color is purple, and she likes butterflies. It's pretty simple and I kinda like it that way. This one took me about an hour to do. It's a fun naptime project!

My obsession, part 2

Remember my new obsession? Here is the latest one that I have made. It is for my sweet Rachel to put her treasures in. It's already shoved full of stuff! I think it turned out cute though!!

Obsessed and loving it

I have OCD. I admit it. At least I am not in denial. I fully embrace the fact that I do obsess about things and OVER do it with other things. Whatever. There are freakier things I could be. And you all KNOW what I am talking about!

I love crafts. Sometimes I get so hooked on a new craft that it is the only thing I do for DAYS on end. Oh yeah. I am SOOOOO not kidding. Just ask my husband. I do the same thing with fun computer games, and well, blogging.

Ahem.

Anyway, my friend Shannon showed me this new fun craft the other day that she has also been obsessing on. I love it! I made one today for Jenny's teacher as a gift for being a great teacher. It took me about 2 hours. So easy.

So, here's what you do....

You go to Roberts or Ben Frankin and buy these little metal container things that they sell in different shapes and sizes. I chose this lunchbox style. Then you cover it with either scrapbook paper or in this case, cardstock. Next, you put stickers and letters on it and modge-podge over the entire thing. This makes it all adhere really well and gives it a great glossy coating. The last step is putting ribbons on the handle. I think it turned out CUTE! It is so much fun!

Tomorrow I am making one for Rachel. And the day after that I am making one for Jonathan. And the day after that......
