big bang

Mike and I don't watch sitcoms generally. Apparently we would rather waste our time with hour long dramas. However, last season we caught a few episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" and absolutely laughed our guts off. This season it is set to record on our DVR every week, and we still laugh hysterically.

Why is it so funny to us? I have a few "theories" of my own. First of all, on any given day, my husband is nerdy enough that he could pass for one of the guys on that show. I.Kid.You.Not. I don't think he knows how to speak Klingon like they did on the last episode, but some of the other quirks they have he does too. Second of all,.....well, I better just stop while I am ahead. Let's just leave it at that.

I love my hubby bunches. I am the "hot chick" to his "nerdiness". (Stop laughing...it's TRUE!)

Anyway, check out "Big Bang Theory" on Monday nights. It's hilarious!

Starting tonight...

Dancing with the Stars starts tonight. Will you be watching?

'Cuz...we WILL BE!
My prediction for the winner: Cloris Leachman. Just kidding, I think it will be Juliann Hough and her partner who is from Disney Channel (what is his name again?...)

So, I guess we will see.

Just for today (I hope)

I've got lots on my plate today. Oh yeah, I started a new medicine for my Diabetes (recently diagnosed and it sucks!) this week, so I have not been feeling great. Not that I feel any better today, but things have to be done around here! It's all piling up and I think that I've lost a kid or two in the mess. Yikes!
Here goes with my Thursday Thirteen:
1. Do our laundry (2 loads of darks, 2 loads of colors, and one load of whites).
2. Put chicken in the crockpot for dinner.
3. Get showered.
4. And dressed in something other than jammies.
5. Read from Harry Potter to Meghan and Rachel (it's a new thing I am starting-it might be put off until tomorrow).
6. Watch Mansfield Park that I recorded from Sunday when it was on PBS.
7. Maybe get a nap when Sidney and Jonathan go down for theirs...if I can get the bigger kids to cooperate too, that is.
8. Vacuum the living room so that Sidney can't find anything to put into her mouth from off the floor.
9. Sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
10. Read everyone's blog. Don't feel bad if I don't comment on yours- it's likely that I won't get to it.
11. Color with Jonathan and Jenny.
12. Snuggle with Sidney.
13. Watch LOST!!!!!

Do my kids watch too much Disney Channel?

So here are some examples to back up this thought provoking question...

1) Jonathan thinks his dad travels to "Hannah Montana". I thought this one was pretty funny considering that she is a person and Montana is just a state in the union. Apparently I was wrong to see how kids could confuse the two.

2) I was talking to my kids about who we needed to buy Christmas presents for and I said that we need to buy for Emily still. I meant Emily, their cousin, but Jonathan said, "Emily Yeoung"? Um no, that would be the girl from Disney Channel that asks all the questions.

3) I see Mickey Mouse ears and my kids see "toodles". Oh mercy!

4) My oldest daughter said to me the other day,"but mom, Sharpay says..." me:"Um, you do get that Sharpay is a character on a movie, right???"

My dilemma is this...do I let them continue to be led astray by the Disney channel or do I correct them and then limit their television consumption thereby taking away any or all of my free time? It is a problem, isn't it? At least they are watching Disney and not VH1. I mean they could know all of my Britney Spears' dance moves instead of just the kid show line-up. So, I think I am safe. Ha ha. See how I did that? I just justified it. I am so good. It sounds right now doesn't it? Yippy for me!!
