sleeping better than before

The baby is and so am I. Sleeping better than before, that is. Last night, Daddy got home from his trip about 9:30pm and I had already started with the tough love sleeping technique. Many people are familiar with this form of helping your baby to sleep. It was created by a Dr. Ferber. Here is a link to a simple explanation of the process. Bottom line: we didn't try this with Jonathan until he was about 18 months old. He was already sleeping through the night, just with us. He had so many ear infections as a baby that the only way for any of us to get any rest was to have him sleep with us. That said, Sidney is healthy. So, her deal is that she is just using the "cry and you come running" method with us. NOT ANYMORE!!! She went down by herself last night (I could see she was getting drowsy after I fed her her cereal, so I just put her in her crib) and fell asleep. Then around 10:30 she let out a squawk, but still stayed asleep. Then at 2:00 am she let loose. Daddy got to be the big meanie and go in and comfort her and then leave. Finally at about 2:45 she settled down and went to sleep and is STILL asleep. (It's 8:35 am) Reinforcing my point all along that she needs more sleep than she was getting! Hopefully, I can continue this today with naps and then tonight again and before we know it she will be sleeping through the night. Yay!
Anyway, Daddy is home and that is a blessing. I am going to the chiropractor today to get adjusted and then visiting teaching. Yay for Mommy time!!!

We did Ferber with our first. Our second still has night terrors (he's 6).

I love my chiropractor. Of course, I'm married to him, but still...

I could never stand to hear my kids cry it out, it breaks my heart. (Even though I have a degree in psychology and I know all about how going in there to pick them up reinforces the crying.) I found this site
www.drhull.com

My friend bought the video & Dr Hull would personally answer her email questions. We borrowed the video from her and got some great ideas.

Good luck getting some sleep!

glad to hear you got some sleep. Hope the baby gets in the groove of things. That would be lovely for you!

"I'm so glad when daddy comes home, glad as I can be....." yay!

I had only one child and she slept through the night (at least 6 hours at a time) from the time she was 2 weeks old. What a wonderful child! ;D I've been putting off seeing my chiropractor 'cause I'm a bit short of money this month. I really need to get him to fix my neck and shoulders, though.

I'm trying to visit all my NaBloPoMo 'friends' at their websites today. I was surfing the Randomizer, but it has been bringing me to the same people over and over again, so I'm branching out.
